Designer Lingerie


Designer Lingerie is a French term, used collectively, to refer to women's underwear. This is fashionable underwear designed to be attractive and sexually appealing. It encompasses a wide range of garments such as stockings and suspenders, negligee's, camisoles and brassieres'. As the emphasis is on sexual attraction, these garments are often made out of silk, satin or lace, and are designed to fit closely to the body in order to heighten this attraction.


As with any item of fashion, there are more luxurious and hence expensive versions which fall into the category of designer lingerie'. These garments are individual and original versions, conceived by a well known fashion designer who will lend their name to this range with the aim of promoting a must sought after and exclusive collection. As these are not mass produced items they will be more expensive which is often due to the superior quality of the materials used as well as increased production costs. Many women see underwear as falling into two categories: functional or everyday underwear which is made of either cotton or lycra, and special or alluring type of underwear which is designed to enhance the wearer's femininity as well as sexual desirability.


The aim of designer lingerie is to promote glamour: to sell a certain type of lifestyle to women who are often looking for a bit of luxury as well as appealing to the opposite sex.
